  2007's Progress Gallery
2007 update: A variety of photos from the last year documenting the fabrication of battery box, fuel tank cover, side panels, cab gutter, and dynamic brake cooling grid. During the summer of '06, thieves stole over $35,000 worth of metal, including all of 190's traction motor cables which were later found stripped. Work continues on the mechanical aspects of the locomotive, inspecting the prime mover thoroughly, and installing some electrical components, as well as the roof.

2008 update:

Amid dozens of projects at the Brooklyn Roundhouse, Doyle and crew continue to work on the #190 when they can, and have made significant progress so far this year. The fuel tank cover and engine-room steps were fabricated and installed, as well as the roof and dynamic brake hatch.

Upon installation of the roof hatch, the crew was able to commence fabrication and installation of pipes and fittings for the cooling system. The engine blocks were inspected, cleaned, and reinstalled. Lastly, the remaining part of the roof still being fabricated is the turbo hatch, which will make accessing the turbo-charger easier than taking the entire roof off.

Baby steps, baby steps...
